Creative writing and journalling
Victoria Hart Shropshire – PHD student in Glasgow Creative Writing and journaling
“Writing as Healing Tool: Claiming your Experience (45 minute session)
95% of writing workshops will tell you to write what you know, which while not incorrect, is at its best overly simplistic.
This session will discuss the various ways in which writing can help us express, communicate, explore and improve our lives as humans, touched by cancer.
The sessions with Victoria will be small groups, but she will be available on both days so that as many as possible can explore the benefits of what she has to offer.
I have met with Victoria and I can tell you, she is very positive and understanding and has herself been through cancer. She will inspire you to write in whichever way suits you to express your thoughts this way.
Upcycling with Emily Rose Emily Rose from Glasgow has an upcycling business in the Hidden Lane off Argyle Street.
Emily will offer techniques to transform items of furniture and other items, and her goods are very popular. It is a brilliantly therapeutic way to spend time and be creative and save money at the same time. Emily will be with us on the Sunday for a couple of sessions.
Crafts and Scrapbooking with Mary Wells
Crafting and Mary’s own Scrapbooking session will be on offer to create and learn, and to share ideas with others at the event. Bring along your photos for this session and Mary will show you how to develop something special.
Paul Marsh, Alexander Technique
The Alexander technique is a way to feel better, and move in a more relaxed and comfortable way….the way nature intended
It can help you identify and lose the harmful habits you have built up over a lifetime of stress and learn to move more freely
If you are ready to feel more comfortable in your own body, then understanding the Alexander Technique may be the first step to eliminating things like the pain of repetitive strain injury and carpel tunnel syndrome.
If you have backache or a stiff neck and shoulders, find discomfort whilst sitting at a computer then this technique could be very beneficial.
It can also help you perform at your full potential as a singer, musician, actor, dancer or athlete.
Media training including writing press releases Ian Black Shoe String Media
The training covers an introductory look at: social media…advertising…press & press releases…video…print & design…strong web presence…e-newsletters…photography…and more. Oh and all this on a shoestring budget!
Ian will be there to answer questions on understanding social media more, and perhaps using the learning from Victoria’s sessions to promote your own blog or newsletters. Perhaps organising a local small event and presenting it in a more confident and professional way.
SHARE SHARE is a new NHS Research Scotlandinitiative created to establish a register of people interest-ed in participating in health research and who agree to allow SHARE to use the coded data in their various NHS computer records to check whether they might be suitable for health research stud-ies. This access can be incredibly useful when it comes to developing new treatments and cures for a wide variety of health conditions.
When you join, you might be invited to take part in a health research study in the future but it would be up to you at the time to decide if you wanted to participate. It only takes a minute to join the SHARE register, but together we can make a real difference to Scotland’s future health. • Improve future healthcare in Scotland • Research can lead to better treatments and cures for you and your family • Just sharing your details is enough to help • Option to participate in health trials if you want • It’s easy to sign up or opt out
There will be massage and nails as usual to enjoy
